Correct. Each Server (Justice, Freedom, Pinnacle, etc.) have many "sub-systems" as noted above that are part of their overall make up. This includes (but is not limited too - don't you like my lawyer speak!) an Arena server, map servers, and the associated database to store all your treasured stuff (character files). Cool, eh? So, right now Justice is up and running but it's associated "Arena server" is down for the count, kaput, or otherwise unavailable. It's taking 2 aspirin and we'll call it in the morning to see how the Hotfix for it is coming.

frankly the natives are getting restless...

This test is to address the issue that cropped up yesterday on the Justice Server. A full build with all sorts of stuff is currently in work internally and should be making it's way out to the Training Room next week. Of course, that timeline implies that nothing turns up problematic in that build, etc.

Of course, we'll post the patch notes and details here when it's ready to go!

Arena Hotfix Coming!

Hello Justiceites!

Again, please let me apologies for the recent problems with the server and the Arena being offline for an extended duration. We have a hotfix going up for testing on the Training Room on Wed. Jan. 8th. You can read about that here.

If that testing goes well, we'll roll it out to all servers and the Justice server Arena should be back up.

Thanks so much for your patience!



PS. Yes, as I mentioned in that thread above about the hotfix, Justice server uses the Arena more than any other, hence how the problem with it cropped up here first!

Arena Hotfix Coming to the Training Room

Hey everyone,

On the morning of Wednesday, January 9th starting at 6 AM Pacific (9 AM Eastern) we will be applying a correction to the Training Room's Arena Server. This change, once tested, will then be rolling out to all the Live Servers. This change is to correct the problem that first showed up on the Justice Server (Justice's Arena is currently unavailable because of it).

So, please use this thread to report any anomalies you discover with using the Arena! Take a look at your personal stats, kiosk rankings, matches, stability, etc. Thanks!

PS. And yes, those folks on Justice just use the Arena that much more than any other server to have the problem show up there before anywhere else!

Kansas City Area Locals!

A writer from The Kansas City Star is interested in doing a special interest piece about online gaming.

Here's what he would like to write about: "People and their favorite avatars - Kansas City area people, hopefully, of all types. This would be a feature for a general-interest newspaper, The Kansas City Star, so I'll be largely writing for an audience that doesn't know squat about online gaming...and, of course, many who do play. My own learning curve is pretty severe, but my teenaged sons love this universe and my aim is to craft a human-interest piece that both gamers and non-gamers can appreciate."

"Basically, I want to explore how these online characters are created, what traits they're given and for what reasons, and how they reflect (or don't at all reflect) the attributes of their creators. If an avatar helped open doors to global friendships or even romance, great. A family of avatars developed by a real-life KC family?"

Our next patch to the Training Room is likely next week, depending on how things go here with what we are working on internally.

While I appreciate the sentiment, Aett_Thorn, I'm going to have to contradict you a bit here. Sometimes, I don't have the time to do full fledged "Let's see what the community wants" deals. I'd go so far as to say that's the majority of the time. In those cases, having a place to go to read what players are discussing and garner ideas on what they'd like to see is handy.

These threads easily get heated at times, and their length can reach brobdingnagian proportions, making getting anything useful difficult, but quite often great ideas emerge from them.

Besides, it gives all you folks something to do while you aren't IN the game!

Both US CoH/COV public test servers are currently unavailable due to an outage of their Auth server. At this time we do not have an estimate as to when service will be restored. We will provide further updates as they are available!

Re: Submit Your Fiction or Art to the Fanzine!

I had some questions about Comic Book submissions for the Fanzine. If you look at Fanzine #0 you will find that it includes the Comic Book piece "Quiver" from last year's Comic Book Creator contest. We plan to include another of the top comic entries from that contest in Issue #1, since there are several who just barely missed winning the prizes, but were superlative works.

For new Comic Submissions, I'll see about updating the fan submission page to include how comics should be handled - whether they are done via the comic book creator software or on your own. At minimum, anything longer than about 8 pages is going to be just too big for the scope of the Fanzine. So, for now, work with that.

We're excited to see your submission!
